Among many highlights are Tarkan’s concert at the Arena
as well as Sertab Erener and Sezen Aksu performing at the Tempodrom;
a project by presented by Fazil Say at the Konzerthaus Berlin,
piano concerts given by Güher and Süher Pekinel with
Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen conducted by its artistic
director Paavo Järvi as well as recitals by Ferhan and
Ferzan Önder and Toros Can at the Philharmonie Berlin.
Also appearing are jazz musician and percussionist Burhan Öçal
with the Trakya All Stars and Paco de Lucia; versatile composer,
musician and DJ Mercan Dede as well as Ilhan Er‚ahin’s
Wax Poetic and Sultan Tunç & friends at Tränenpalast.
»Wie weit reicht Europa?« (How far does Europe extend?),
a conference at Schloss Neuhardenberg, provides a forum for
discussion about the entry of the Republic of Turkey into the
European Union. The Arsenal cinema is showing a series of brand-new
Turkish films not yet shown in Berlin. Authors still largely
unknown in Germany will read from their works at the Literary
Colloquium Berlin. Werkstatt der Kulturen (workshop of cultures)
introduces German-Turkish stand-up comedy to an interested audience.
The Hebbel am Ufer theatre company presents media star Kutlug
Ataman with an open-air video installation specially produced
for Berlin as well as Emre Koyuncuoglu’s dance project
Home Sweet Home, contemporary theatre with House, performed
by VEDST Theatre Group, and the young music scene with Baba
Zula, Orient Expressions, DJ Yakuza and DJ Ipek.
Künstlerhaus Bethanien features artists from Berlin and
Istanbul. Pina Bausch’s choreography Nefés (breath),
a co-production with the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and
Arts created in 2003 in Istanbul, will be shown at the Volksbühne
am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz theatre. |
