Literature from Istanbul and Berlin
Oya Baydar und Murathan Mungan
/ Thorsten Becker & Tim Staffel
Thursday , 2. September
20.00 Uhr
Works of Turkish author Oya Baydar deal with the collapse of the socialist
system and the human dimension in times of radical political change.
She lived in Germany for 12 years as a political exile. In 2002, she
was awarded the Orhan-Kemal-Novel-Prize, the most important award
for fiction in Turkey. The narrator, theatre author and poet Murathan
Mungan remains true to the narrative tradition of the Orient and uses
myths and fairy tales from his native country, adding his own special
accents and so transforming them. He counts among Turkey’s most
famous authors, but is virtually unknown
in Germany. Literature from Istanbul
