The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and
Arts is a non-governmental, a non-profit organisation, mainly
financed by sponsors. It organises international festivals of
film, theatre, classical music and jazz in Istanbul as well
as the International Istanbul Biennial. With Íimdi Now
– Musik Tanz Theater Film Literatur Kunst aus der Türkei
(music, dance, theatre, film, literature, art from Turkey),
the Foundation crosses for the first time ever the borders of
its country, presenting a rich interdisciplinary programme featuring
artists from Turkey and other countries. Since its formation
32 years ago, the Foundation has been committed to bringing
together different cultures and contributing to the creation
of a platform for multicultural dialogue. |

Werkstatt der Kulturen reflects
in its work art and culture as influenced by immigration and
globalisation. Its programme includes everything from major
events, like the Karneval der Kulturen (Carnival of Cultures),
to theatre and music productions. Intercultural cooperation
and networking are its central theme. Its projects and programmes,
which are aimed at an international Berlin audience, call into
question the usual patterns of interpretation and dialogue. |
